Auditory Language Learning
Many MSD students have usable residual hearing, use hearing aids, or have cochlear implants. These students benefit from focused instruction and specialized services that support MSD’s bilingual Early Childhood and Pre-K–12 educational programs.
In the Classroom
Students who can access auditory information for language learning benefit from classroom instruction that integrates appropriate language learning approaches. Lessons taught in ASL are reinforced with spoken or sign-supported English instruction in small group or one-on-one sessions. MSD is expanding opportunities for children of all ages to benefit from spoken English instruction.
