The Maryland School for the Deaf formed a new Site Based Team (SBT) for each department beginning February 2005. Parent, teacher, support service staff and administrative representatives work together to address concerns within each individual department.
SBT meets bi-weekly at 3:00 pm for approximately an hour to discuss and make recommendations on educational and operational concerns within the department. SBT meetings are open to the public. Each member's term will be two years.

Schedule: 2 meetings per month, 3:00 pm
Procedure:
- A member's term will be two years. Members will not rotate off the team at the same time.
- If one member drops out of the team, a new member will be selected by the present team.
- SBT will be chaired by the designated chairperson.
- An agenda will be prepared by the chairperson at the end of each meeting for the next meeting.
- SBT may invite others to participate in meetings dependent upon agenda needs.
- The minutes of each meeting will be posted.
- A quorum (two-thirds of the membership of the SBT) will be necessary to conduct a meeting.
