Admissions

Dear Parents and Prospective Students,

Maryland School for the Deaf (MSD) offers comprehensive educational programs for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students from birth through age twenty one (21). Students can be enrolled with an Individual Education Plan (IEP) as young as three (3) years of age.

If you have a child between the ages of birth to 5 years and are interested in educational services at MSD please contact our Family Education Program directly at 410-480-4540 (V), 410-696-7435 (VP) or family.education@msd.edu (email).

If your child is ready to enter Kindergarten or is age 6 or older an application process will need to be initiated. To initiate the application process you will need to complete several forms including the MSD Application Form, the Case History Form and the Release for Exchange of Educational and Medical Information Form. Once we receive the completed forms, we will contact you to schedule an admissions screening which may include audiological and psycho-educational testing for your child. From there, the Admissions Review Team will examine all of the documents and make a recommendation regarding the best educational placement for your child.

Upon admittance to MSD, your son or daughter will be attending a school that is committed to the academic development of all of our students. In a diverse, bilingual environment, we help each student achieve personal excellence and become responsible lifelong learners. We accomplish this through the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) process, where teachers and support staff strive to develop and implement an educational program designed to promote and develop your son or daughter's educational needs.

If you would like a tour of the educational programs at the Frederick Campus, please contact Carolyn Hediger at 240-575-3800 (VP) or Carolyn.Hediger@msd.edu (email). For a tour of the educational programs at the Columbia Campus, please contact Jennifer Mertes at 410-480-4570 (V), 410-696-7441 (VP) or jennifer.mertes@msd.edu (email).

On behalf of MSD, I thank you for your interest in our school. If you have any questions about the admissions process, please feel free to contact me at 240-575-2958 (VP) or 301-360-2030 (V-Kathleen Baker) or theresa.napoli@msd.edu (email).

Sincerely,

Theresa Napoli
