MSD's Re-accreditation
MSD's Strategic Plan and Accreditation
During the 2003-04 school year the Maryland School for the Deaf conducted a thorough review of its entire program. By using external sources of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA) and the University of Baltimore , in addition to its own internal review, all stakeholders were contacted for input. The end product was an over-arching Strategic Plan addressing short term needs and long term goals for the entire community. A comprehensive outline of the school's Accreditation effort as part of this overall planning can be found in the Special Edition of "The Maryland Bulletin" issued in November 2004.
The Middle States Association which is the accrediting body for the Mid-Atlantic states , performed an onsite review of the programs during the week of November 8 th , 2004. This eight member team will recommend to the Advisory Board of MSA a full seven year Accreditation for the school which is the highest possible rating.
In order to maintain the momentum that has been achieved, four Action Plan Implementation Teams with community wide stakeholder representation have been established:
Reading
Mathematics
Information Technology
Unity/Diversity
Reading , Mathematics, and Information Technology have already established Objectives and Action Plans on which they are working. The Unity/Diversity group was recently formed and they are just beginning work on Objectives and Action Plans.
Please refer to other areas in this Accreditation website to review committee membership, meeting dates, and minutes of meetings as well as the school's Objectives and Action Plans. All meetings are open, interpreted, and anyone is welcomed to attend.
The chart below reflects the ongoing Accreditation process and Strategic Plan development.
