Physical & Occupational Therapy

School-based occupational and physical therapists collaborate with parents and educational staff to help implement each student’s Individualized Educational Program (IEP). When necessary, therapists may also partner with other staff members to modify the child’s routine or environment to foster more independence within the educational setting.

Occupational Therapy (OT) and Physical Therapy (PT) services are provided by therapists who are licensed through the Maryland Department of Health. While both OT and PT support students in development of foundational gross and fine motor skills, which includes positioning, posture, self-care, and self-management in the learning environment, OT focuses more on handwriting and feeding, and PT focuses more on balance and mobility.
