Student Practicum and Internship Requests

At the Maryland School for the Deaf, we are firm believers in the transformative power of education and learning. As a school dedicated to nurturing growth and potential, we take pride in offering a student practicum and internship program tailored to aspiring educators interested in Deaf Education and professionals devoted to serving Deaf and hard of hearing students.

Through MSD's Internship Program, you will have the opportunity of working alongside experienced educators and professionals who are passionate about sharing their knowledge and expertise. This collaborative learning environment serves as a springboard for unlocking your potential and building a robust foundation in Deaf Education to support the development of your educational and career plans.

As an intern, you'll be actively involved in school life, closely collaborating with experienced educators and professionals, and interacting with Deaf and hard of hearing students in a supportive learning environment. At MSD, we strongly believe in nurturing talent and empowering individuals to reach their fullest potential. Our long-term, in-depth involvement aims to sharpen your educational expertise, cultivate your professional skills, and deepen your understanding of Deaf Education and Deaf Culture. Through immersive opportunities, you will gain invaluable insights and skills, setting the stage for the realization of your educational and career aspirations.

Ways to Get Involved

— Assisting with Events: From school activities to cultural celebrations, there are various events throughout the year where we can use an extra set of helping hands. Volunteers can assist in event planning, coordination, and execution to ensure our gatherings are enjoyable and memorable experiences for everyone.

— Museum Support: If you have a passion for archives and history, you can contribute by assisting in our school museum. Volunteers can help process inventory, support projects and visitors in finding information, and share knowledge about MSD with our visitors.
