Policies & Procedures

Overview

This section provides detailed policies and administrative procedures that supplement the Maryland School for the Deaf (MSD) Handbook. While the handbook serves as a central guide to school responsibilities and expectations—including academic policies, student conduct, and available programs and services—these documents provide the detailed administrative procedures that support the implementation of those policies, including reporting steps, timelines, and required forms.

Together, the handbook and these procedures support clear communication, consistent practices, and compliance with federal and state regulations. All policies are approved by the MSD Board of Trustees unless otherwise required by the Maryland State Department of Education or federal law.

Procedures are reviewed and updated regularly to reflect current laws and Board-approved policies. They are maintained alongside the handbook to uphold MSD's commitment to safety, equity, and legal compliance.
