This issue marks a special commemoration of the selection of MSD's 12th Superintendent, John A. Serrano. Our cover story celebrates this momentous occasion in school history, offering an insightful glimpse into Serrano's first few months at MSD, complemented by captivating photos capturing the warm welcome from our school community.

In addition, we feature an article highlighting the experience of Columbia's Student Council members at the Inauguration of Gov. Wes Moore and Lt. Gov. Aruna Miller. Furthermore, we introduce Fred, MSD's first Facility Dog, who has quickly become a beloved member of our school community.

Within this comprehensive 68-page edition, you'll uncover a diverse array of stories. These include the elementary school's inaugural Kindness March on the Frederick campus, insights on Black Joy Week and the myriad ways in which MSD celebrated Black History Month. Additionally, Sarah Clark, a middle school student on the Frederick campus, shares her debut as a student writer, recounting her experience testifying in Annapolis for open-captioned movies.

The magazine also features campus news, student organization and club highlights, and season recaps from our high school winter sports. Moreover, you'll find an inspiring account of Columbia's middle school girls' basketball team's historic victory in the Eastern Deaf Middle School Basketball Tournament, securing their first-ever championship title.
