Parent Education Opportunities
Parents are a child's first and best teacher. At MSD, we value our partnerships with families by providing a variety of parent education opportunities to empower parents and caregivers to become their child's best advocate.
Scheduled parent group meetings provide opportunities for families to interact with other families with deaf or hard of hearing children. At the same time, parents obtain information about a wide range of topics, such as bilingual education, literacy development, child development, speech/audiology, and any other requested topic. Our parent group facilitators invite guest speakers to share their knowledge and experiences with families; open discussion is an important part of this group as well. No one understands the experience of a parent like another parent on a similar journey.
ASL classes are provided free of charge for families. Classes are available in person and online at various times of the day.
Special events, such as workshops, field trips, and other events are provided throughout the year. Families and children alike have the opportunity to learn about their world and community together. Events and field trips are hosted on or near our campuses, as well as around the state in the local community.
